Our Story

ArtistLed, an independent recording company established by cellist David Finckel and pianist Wu Han in 1997, evolved from a desire to create recordings free from artistic, commercial, technical, and procedural constraints.

ArtistLed is not just a company—it’s a means for musicians to record what they want, how they want, and deliver it directly to the public. The artists are in full control of every stage: repertoire selection, venue choice, sound engineering, session management, editing, and final mix.

The result? Performances that capture the excitement and spontaneity of a live concert, combined with the sonic and musical perfection of studio recording. To date, ArtistLed has released twenty-three recordings—all met with critical acclaim.

Da-Hong Seetoo, Recording Engineer

A Curtis Institute- and Juilliard School-trained violinist, six-time Grammy Award-winning producer Da-Hong Seetoo is one of the elite audio engineers in classical music. Using custom-designed microphones, monitor speakers, and software, he brings unparalleled clarity and warmth to every ArtistLed recording.

His clients include the Emerson, Tokyo, and Borromeo String Quartets; Daniel Barenboim, Gil Shaham, the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, and the New York Philharmonic. His 2010 Grammy win for the Emerson String Quartet’s *Intimate Letters* stands as a testament to his artistry.
